A Bit of Background
Hello! I am Jeny Dalrymple, English teacher, instructional designer, avid reader, and slowly coming to terms with the fact that I am truly a cat person.

After 6 years in the classroom, I was looking for the next step in my career, and decided to pursue National Board Certification. This achievement turned out to be the best and worst thing for my career as a teacher. I became more reflective in my practice which spilled over into becoming more reflective of my career. I realized that it was time for me to transition out of the classroom.

Educating from Empathy
One of my core beliefs is that empathy is the greatest tool we have. I strive to be curious and open minded rather than making assumptions. Facilitating a course on unconscious bias helped me parse out how important that is.

I believe that students learn best when they believe you want them to be there, and you want them to learn. Rather than an us/them mentality, viewing education through the lens of community, I believe that learners of all ages are more likely to actively engage in the material.
